Happy Birthday Chase!

It is hard to believe one year ago today we were welcoming our little bundle of joy.  I will always hold this day so close to my heart, and remember the happiness and closeness Alec and I shared as we became a family of three.  May 23rd we witnessed a miracle, and I am so grateful that Alec was able to experience the birth of his son.  He was the proudest father I have ever seen.

Chase has given me more than I could ever imagine.  I think of him and I smile.  He is my life, my everything, and I thank God for giving me this precious child.  Alec lives on through Chase, and I see more and more of him in Chase each day.  The way he looks at me, the way he laughs, makes everyone he sees smile...the twinkle in his eye.  I love him beyond words.

Thank you all for the Birthday Wishes!  Oh, and Happy Birthday to Chase's cousin Kelsey Mae!  Still hard to believe we had our babies on the very same day!  XOXO

Mothers Day

I hope all the Mommy's out there had a wonderful day.

My first Mothers Day!

I had just about the perfect weekend.  The only thing missing was Alec, but Chase (and my parents) spoiled me rotten.

Saturday morning Gramma made Chase the biggest plate of blueberry pancakes I have ever seen!

I attempted to check off some of my "to do's" but I could not get the lawn mower started or the power washer set up, so I gave up (I didn't try that hard) and me, Chase and my Mom headed to the beach.  It was the most gorgeous day, and Chase had so much fun, crawling like a little crab all over.  By the time we got home from the beach my Dad mowed the lawn and fixed the hose, good decision on my part to skip out to the beach!

Saturday night we went out to eat at Federal Jacks, then to DQ for a mud pie blizzard (that was Alec's favorite blizzard!  Mine too, until I found out it was nearly 800 calories)  But it was Mothers Day weekend so whose counting?  Chase loved it too.

Up early Sunday morning, I was ordered back to bed where Chase (and Gramma and Papa) brought me coffee, a rose and breakfast in bed!  Gosh I am spoiled.

All of us then went to church for a lovely service and back home to spend the afternoon with Auntie Jill, Auntie Cha, Gramma and Papa.  It was another beautiful Maine day and we drank mimosa's on the deck, mulched a little and finished the weekend with a lobster dinner!  I couldn't have asked for more.  I even had the best dream about Alec Saturday night (and I never, ever remember my dreams).  He was with me, he looked so good and healthy and handsome. I asked him what he was up too, he told me he was so busy, watching over all of us, keeping us safe, its hard work he said.  He said heaven is just beautiful, and he was happy.  I asked him if he was mad that I sold his truck, he said of course not, I want you and Chase to be safe.  It was so real, I am not sure if it was a dream or not,  but it made me so happy, and I think it was his Mothers Day gift to me.  I love him so much.

Me and Auntie Cha!

YUM YUM!
Oh yeah, I also got beautiful  flowers, a watch from Chase, and a bike rack from Gramma and Papa!

Hopefully we will see Grandma C soon, I know Chase missed her today!

So what makes it a perfect weekend...in my opinion all you need are a few things...

Chase
Sun
Beach
DQ
Lobster
Blueberry pancakes
God
Alec
Family & Friends
And a little drinky drink

That is my perfect weekend!

Happy Mothers Day to my beautiful mother, what would I ever do without you?  And to my mother-in-law, who would do anything for her little munchkin...thank you both for always being there for us.  We love you both very much, although I am pretty sure you know that already!

Thank you to my wonderful family for filling in for Alec, I love you and feel so blessed.  He is so happy knowing Chase and I are in such good hands.

XOXO

May 5th

This was always one of my favorite days.  It is the day when I first talked to Alec on the phone and we met in Boston for drinks with friends later that night.  We fell madly in love...we knew from that first time out we had something special, we were literally inseparable after that.  The two of us would look back on that day now 6 years ago and reminisce.

Today, Cinco De Mayo 2012, I went to pick out a stone for Alec's grave site.

Chase, Millie and I went to the cemetery and sat by Alec in the warm sun and watched a butterfly circle above us.

This is not how I thought our love story would end...however, I am grateful I have one to tell.
