Alec took his first dose of the new drug on Monday and things are going smoothly so far. We got to MGH at 7:30 and he was finished at 7:00pm. He had to have blood drawn every half hour or so, EKG's all day and urine samples taken. Today and the rest of the week he has to go in the morning for a quick blood draw and thats it. Next Monday he starts taking the pill every day for 4 weeks and then there will be a scan to see if he is responding. He had no side effects and said its a piece of cake compared to chemo. Leaving MGH today without feeling nausous, he was a happy camper.
We feel confident with this new drug and all our prayers that this is going to work. In fact, Dr. Urich said that he expects the drug will stop the growth and the cancer will cease to exhist...Alec asked for that in writing, but he laughed and we were denied. We are all only expecting a miracle ;)
Chase and I went down and stayed with Alec for a couple hours but had to leave while he was being monitored on the chemo floor, he doesnt like the baby to be where there are lots of germs and sick people. So we went shopping, visited Auntie Jill, then stopped by to see Caitlin and her two little girls and also got to visit with Amy. Kind of a girlie day, but he didnt seem to mind (the little flirt).
That is all for now, an uneventful week so far, which is what we wanted. We are keeping the faith and Hope is alive and well in our hearts. Thank you all for the prayers and support, especially this week! XOXO
Love,
Heather, Alec, Chase, Millie
